Cubica House
Cubica House designed to be a family house in the central west of Corfu. The inclination of the plot combined with a stunning view of Glyfada beach. Aiming to satisfy its residents’ needs and complement the existing Corfiot landscape a house consisting of different volumes is created.
Entering the plot from above three volumes are placed at different heights. The slip between them creates “protected” spaces, with different degrees of privacy and uses of them. Following the topography of the plot the three volumes are being placed on different heights, gradually guiding the users to the lower level. The main uses of the house are on the higher levels, offering a beautiful view to the Ionian sea both the living room and dining room. Big openings connect them with the outdoor area, where a garden is being planned. Furthermore the kitchen extends to an outdoor area where a BBQ is being created. Two big stairs placed respectfully on each one of the two sides of the lower volume connect the level of the bedrooms with the outdoor area of the ground floor.
Attempting to highlight and extend the natural element, large areas of greenery are being planned. Throughout the house the materials have been selected in such way that respects the natural landscape and the Corfu identity. Wood, aged brick and forged cement are used both in the interior and exterior areas. For the shadowing pergolas made of natural wood and wicker are being chosen. The outdoor spaces are designed to function as extension of the house and enable direct contact with it natural landscape.
