Casa Fragmento
Situated in Pelekas city in Corfu, casa fragmento, is a cozy residence enclosed in stone. The shape mimics the morphology of the land in which it stands. The Cypress tree that stands tall in the limit of the plot played a key role in determining the shape and concept of the house.
As indicated by the name, the space is composed out of different oriented fragments, public, private and outdoor living spaces, that follow the plot’s natural curvature and are connected through a covered patio. The street facing façade is almost monolithic, to further strengthen the contradictory open facade that frames the sea views.
Multiple levels, paved or planted, have been orchestrated to connect all the functions that the plot has to offer and double as viewing benches for the tennis court which is located in the lower part of the plot. The outdoors space is designed in Neutral tones and bricks that allow room for vegetation growth in between and works as an extension of the house. In this way it gives out the feeling that nature penetrates the building.
